Each year in mid December, is celebrated in Salamanca a curious party that, as usual, has the university of the city as protagonists. New Year's Eve University is already a little tradition in the life of every university to study in Salamanca, and is a New Year ahead.

Much of the city university return to their hometowns to celebrate Christmas, and so, in mid-December (last year was the 15th) evening, the City at the Plaza Mayor gives the 12 strokes, eat the traditional 12 grapes, and all celebrate their New Year particular university in Salamanca. The Route of the Frontier Forts, was created in 1999 by the Heritage Foundation of Castile and Leon. In this route contains all bastioned defense systems in the area since pre-Roman times until the latter eighteenth century.

On this route we can see different classes of historical interpretation in the various nuclei that compose: Ciudad Rodrigo, Aldea del Obispo, Yecla de Yeltes and St. Felicien of Gallegos, of the Spanish, and Almeida, the Portuguese side.

Leaving the Plaza Mayor and in the heart of the city, is the Calle Toro, which is the street "shopping" with the most traditional of the city.

The pedestrian precinct is a living example of "open mall", they want to regain strength in our cities, leaving the long lasting conventional stores. Far from enclosed spaces that prevent us from feeling life of the places we visited, this street offers the possibility of going shopping and seeing the city everyday with it.

Along this route, and in adjacent, we can find plenty of shops with very different kinds: clothing, accessories, leather goods, shoe stores, perfume, music, decor, gifts, etc .... Continue reading »

In the heart of Salamanca, ie in the Plaza Mayor, we find the Meson Cervantes, a place where we can enjoy precious and delicious kebabs, as well as any other food to be an inn. As for the spikes, we have a wide variety of tortilla skewers, as usual in Salamanca tapas, although the letter is extended to all kinds of hot and cold spikes. Continue reading »

The charro button is a piece of jewelry that is usually in Salamanca costumes and the typical layer. It has medieval origins and its peak are the XVI and XVII. It is common although silver is gold there. They are made of twisted wire and silver or gold balls that upon completion is flower shape.
